Project Brief
By the age of 12, girls are SIX times more likely to drop out of sports than boys. So for my thesis project I wanted to empower young girls (ages 8–12) to pursue athletics through the stories of successful female athlete role models, by giving them access to role models through a magazine and website. In the hopes that this will help them realize they can have a future in sports and to stick with it.
My Concept
For this premiere issue I wanted to feature as many athletes as I could to introduce girls to them. So I went with the idea of a Sheroes issue. I chose 11 sports and a couple athletes per sport. There are interviews, news stories, fun facts, games, etc. I wanted to keep it fun for my target audience, but also informational.
